PEOPLE OF PRAYER

PEOPLE OF PRAYER DEVOTIONAL
FOUR WEEK FOCUS - PRAYER

Followers of Jesus are not merely people who pray; followers of Jesus are a PEOPLE OF PRAYER. Christianity is a religion that is all about relationship. It is a religion that is all about how God wants to be close and personal with people. He wants to know them and wants to be known by them. That is why the very core of Christianity is prayer.

Prayer is at the heart of being a follower of Jesus, yet for so many of us prayer has been hard, foreign, awkward, daunting, or non-existent. I know it has been for me in different seasons of my own life. We long for a meaningful, personable relationship with God found in prayer, yet we don’t have it. We want to be satisfied in God, yet we feel like there’s something else we can have. We want to be close to God, yet we often feel scared to go into that unknown space.

What if I told you that being close to  God is easier than you think? What if I told you that there is a deep satisfaction from a life with God that is available to You right now? What if I told you that right beyond the border of what is holding you back there is something to take hold of? What if I told you that God is closer than you can imagine, that He is waiting, and that all you have to do is respond with a simple “yes”?

You were created to be close to God. You were created for prayer. Your deepest longing may just be to know God and be known by God, and I know those longings can be met in prayer. Let’s step beyond the border; let’s walk into the sunlight; let’s say “yes” to God’s “yes.” Let’s join for 21 days and become a people of prayer.

-Rev. Christian Dawson, Campus Pastor
